
The CEJJES Institute announces the Dr. Susan G. Gordon Scholarship in honor of Susan Elizabeth Gitt Gordon M.D.’s 100th birthday this year.
The Dr. Susan G. Gordon Scholarship award will go to one female High School graduate, from the African diaspora, residing in Rockland County, who is going on to attend college in one of the STEM fields. The student must be graduating from high school by summer 2024, with a GPA of 3.25/4 or 85% or higher, and be enrolled to start in a 4-year college Fall 2024, in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field, or be pre-med. Following the legacy of Dr. Susan Gordon, the student must also be active in social justice activities or organizations supporting issues such as women’s rights, abortion rights, LGBTQ rights, civil rights, environmental justice, anti-war activism, health justice, child/youth advocacy, or abolitionist.
The winner will receive an award of $5,000 per year for four years. Each year, after the first
year, the student will provide the CEJJES Institute with proof of continuing enrollment in
college, and maintenance of a 3.25 GPA or higher, in order to receive the annual amount.
Interested students should provide a resume; a recommendation from a teacher, advisor or
