The Gordon collection of works by African American artist Charles White (1918–1979) is among the largest in the United States and includes key drawings, prints, an etched silver plate and a major painting by the artist. White created this early drawing for the Harriet Tubman Child Health and Guidance Clinic, a private medical clinic in Harlem that the Gordons established to serve disadvantaged children.
